The Thrissur Management Association (TMA) hosted the Dr. K. Gopalan Memorial Lecture and the presentation of TMA Awards on 5th March 2026 at Hotel Joys Palace, bringing together members, academicians, professionals, and students for an evening of reflection and recognition.

The programme opened with a welcome address by Mr. Seejo Ponnore, Senior Vice President, followed by the Presidential Address by Mr. Padmakumar C, who shared an overview of TMA’s recent activities and initiatives.

The evening was anchored around the Dr. K. Gopalan Memorial Lecture, instituted in memory of a distinguished educationist whose contributions to institutions such as CUSAT and NCERT continue to influence the academic landscape. This year’s lecture was delivered by Shri V. K. Sreeraman, who, in his characteristic style, combined humour with insight to reflect on the people and perspectives that are often overlooked in mainstream narratives. His address resonated with the audience, offering both thought and pause.

As part of the occasion, the Dr. K. Gopalan Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Education was presented to Dr. V. M. Xaviour, recognising his sustained contribution to education and student development.

The programme also featured a special address by Shri Ajith Kumar K. K., Managing Director & CEO, Dhanlaxmi Bank, whose remarks added perspective to the evening and connected with the audience across segments.

The awards segment of the evening reflected TMA’s continued effort to recognise excellence across different stages and fields. The TMA Beeline Special Achievers Award was presented to CA P. R. Sreekumar, who, in his response, shared reflections from his own journey, offering a simple yet motivating perspective on clarity of goals and consistent effort.

Recognising academic excellence, the TMA – T. R. Raghavan Memorial Best Management Student Award was presented to Ms. Kyrene Joshi. The Mrs. Geetha Ravi Memorial Award for Best Mathematics Teacher in Thrissur District was presented to Mr. Krishnaprasad U. B., acknowledging his contribution to teaching and student development.

TMA also presented scholarships as part of its commitment to supporting students. The TMA–DLB Scholarships, supported by Dhanlaxmi Bank, were awarded to Ms. Hema Haridas and Ms. Lakshmi Krishnan, while the TMA Scholarship was presented to Ms. Alfa Jiya Joseph.

The responses from the awardees added a personal dimension to the evening, reflecting on their journeys and the role of institutions, mentors, and opportunities along the way.

The event concluded with the induction of new members into TMA, followed by the vote of thanks delivered by CA Shaji P. J., Hon. Secretary.

Overall, the evening brought together reflection, recognition, and conversation — staying true to the spirit of the memorial lecture and the values it seeks to uphold.
